Heart Attack
Chelsey's 25th birthday is today, so last night (in an effort to keep the kids busy) we went and heart attacked her house. The pictures are dark since it was night. If I'd been patient enough, we would have counted out 25 balloons, but the kids were done being nice, and we were worried about Chelsey getting home any minute, so we hurried.

Grand Opening Anniversary
This time last year we had our Grand Opening at our new facility. This year we had an anniversary sale with sodas and hot dogs, and giveaways. It was a BUSY day for us with over 250 transactions, and our largest one-day sales volume since we opened. A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped out to make it work- especially my mom and Cami who both came to help with our kids. The kids had more fun with them than they would have had working with us. Here are a few pictures Abbey took in the nursery on Saturday. The weather was perfect.

Post Surgery
Jay is, well, in pain. The surgery went well, and the nurse said it was the right choice to have it done. She called after the surgery to let me know he was done. I told her I would be there in a few minutes, and she told me not to hurry because they still had stuff to do before he coud leave. I got there about 30 minutes later, and when I called in to recovery, she answered the phone and said:
"Is this Tami? Is this his wife?"
Me: "Yes."
Nurse: "I'm so glad you're here. He won't stop talking."
I thought he was pretty entertaining. He got on his cell phone as soon as I got there. After we left, we stopped at Basha's for steak (he hadn't eaten all day). He almost ran into a few people with his electric cart. We then came to the yard where he made more phone calls and grilled the steak for dinner. His arm and shoulder were still numb from the shoulder block, so he felt okay.
4 am when the block wore off, and the ice pack ran out of ice was a different story. I guess he thought it wouldn't hurt??? After attempting to come to work this morning and losing his breakfast he decided to go home to rest (thank goodness). He was sent home with a pain pump and a circulating ice pack that will stay in place at least for the next 2 days, maybe longer. He was supposed to go back to court tomorrow (long story) but he asked me to reschedule, so I'm working on that. They want a note from the doctor. Thursday he starts rehab, and next week he flies to Tennessee for a pool and spa training. I hope he feels well enough to go. He doesn't remember anything the nurse told him, so I have to keep reminding him what he can and can't do. For the time being, I have 9 dependants.

SLAP Tear
So, Jay has been in pain for years. He discussed the issue with an orthopaedic surgeon a few times, then finally went in for an official appt. They scheduled an MRI at the hospital, and the doc. was surprised at how progressed his injury was. He has what is called a SLAP tear (see below for details), and goes in for surgery this afternoon at 1:30 to try to repair it, screws and all. He will not be allowed to lift anything over 5 lbs with his right arm for the next 3 months. Right. If he does, and it tears again, it will be irrepairable, and the tendon would be cut rather than repaired, limiting movement (mainly rotating movement) for the rest of his life. He'd better comply. It's outpatient surgery, nothing major. We're hoping it will relieve his headaches and neck pain when it's healed. Below is copied and pasted from About.com. There's lots more to read about it if you're interested.
A SLAP tear is an injury to a part of the shoulder joint called the labrum. The shoulder joint is a ball and socket joint, similar to the hip; however, the socket of the shoulder joint is extremely shallow, and thus inherently unstable. To compensate for the shallow socket, the shoulder joint has a cuff of cartilage called a labrum that forms a cup for the end of the arm bone (humerus) to move within.
A specific type of labral tear is called a SLAP tear; this stands for Superior Labrum from Anterior to Posterior. The SLAP tear occurs at the point where the tendon of the biceps muscle inserts on the labrum.

I Gave In
On the day he turned 18 months old (yesterday), I finally gave James his first haircut. I hate the transition from baby hair to little boy hair- it's never the same. So, I put it off as long as I could. It was getting pretty scraggly. He laughed through the buzzer part, and had a hard time sitting still for the scissors part, and was so glad when it was over. He looks very handsome
